The firm was also selected for the 2010 U.S. News & World Report's Best Law Firms Rankings, the first year of the rankings.

The methodology for the U.S. News - Best Lawyers “Best Law Firms” involved surveying thousands of law firm clients; leading lawyers and law firm managers; partners and associates; and marketing officers and recruiting officers. Each were asked what factors they considered vital for clients hiring law firms, for lawyers choosing a firm to refer a legal matter to, and for lawyers seeking employment. September 1, 2011 - Benjamin W. Karpf has joined Bouhan, Williams & Levy LLP as an associate. Benjamin W. Karpf has joined Bouhan, Williams & Levy LLP as an associate.

 

Prior to joining Bouhan, Williams & Levy LLP, Karpf was an associate with Dow Lohnes PLLC, in Washington, DC for several years. His practice focuses on drafting, analyzing and negotiating commercial contracts, including license agreements, IT procurement agreements, services and consulting agreements, and sponsorship and advertising agreements. He also regularly counsels clients on various matters relating to copyright, trademark, technology and media law.
“I’m very excited to return to Savannah and I look forward to raising my family here,” Karpf said. “DC is wonderful, but Savannah is home.”
Karpf was awarded a J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center. While there, he was an Annual Survey Editor for The American Criminal Law Review and a board member for the Equal Justice Foundation. Karpf was a legal intern for the Media Access Project and a summer law clerk for the Center for Democracy and Technology, both in Washington, DC.
Prior to his career in law, Karpf was Web Editor for a small national newspaper and Information Technology Director for its non-profit sister organization.
Karpf earned an M.A. in Communication, Culture & Technology from Georgetown University and has a B.A. in English, with a minor in Jazz Studies, from The George Washington University.

May 11, 2011 - Todd Baiad and Andrew Dekle Obtain Summary Judgment in Bank Fraud Case  

The State Court of Effingham County granted summary judgment for Bouhan, Williams & Levy’s client, First Chatham Bank.  The plaintiff had filed suit against the Bank alleging claims of fraud, breach of contract and promissory estoppel, seeking  over Six Million Dollars in damages.  Todd Baiad and Andrew Dekle obtained summary judgment for all of the claims asserted by Plaintiff.

December 1, 2010 - Walter C. Hartridge Honored by the Savannah Bar Assocation  

Walter C. Hartridge was honored by the Savannah Bar Association on November 11, 2010 for his exemplary and longstanding service to the legal community.  Mr. Hartridge has been a member of the Savannah Bar Association since 1961, the year he joined Bouhan, Williams & Levy LLC.  During his career, he has served on the Board of Governors for the State Bar, as a Trustee of Georgia Institute of Continuing Legal Education, a member of the State Disciplinary Board Review Panel and a member of the Judicial Qualifications Commission for the State of Georgia.

September 23, 2010 - Defense Verdict in Malpractice case  

Carlton E. Joyce of Bouhan, Williams & Levy LLP in Savannah got a defense verdict in a case brought against an Infectious Disease doctor for failing to monitor a patient after placing him on antibiotics, where the lab neglected to send the patient’s lab test results to the doctor’s office.  The jury deliberated for approximately two hours before reaching its verdict.

Selection in Georgia Super Lawyers is achieved through a combination of peer nomination and evaluation and third party research. Each nomination must be made by a Georgia attorney who has been practicing for at least five years. The attorneys are asked to nominate the best attorneys they've personally observed in action. Attorneys may not nominate themselves and may only nominate others in their firm if they nominate an equal or greater number of attorneys from other firms. 
After the nominations are submitted, the Law & Politics research department, a magazine published by Super Lawyers, examines the background and experience of each candidate. Each nomination is evaluated on a point system with the top scoring nominees being selected for Georgia Super Lawyers.
